AI Is Changing Citizen Participation — From Consultation to Conversation
Artificial intelligence is beginning to transform democratic participation. A recent Süddeutsche Zeitung article, drawing on new OECD and Bertelsmann Stiftung research, shows how AI can make participation more accessible, scalable and meaningful.
The OECD study identifies applications ranging from translation and transcription to sense-making, moderation and AI-assisted facilitation. Its central insight is important: AI can strengthen democracy when it increases institutions’ capacity to listen without replacing democratic judgement, transparency and trust.
For us at eKairos, this points to an even bigger opportunity.
